My name’s Bobby Davis, a.k.a. “The Guitar Answer Guy”–which is something someone called me during a casual conversation many years ago. I never quite forgot that comment, and dusted-off the name years later to start this blog.
Back in the mid 90’s, after years of repeatedly getting bad or mediocre setups from “pros” and even having one of my guitars severely damaged (and the responsibility denied), I got fed up with it all and taught myself. Using books and videos, and practicing on junk guitars, I taught myself everything from basic guitar care to advanced topics like fretwork, bridge & nut making, and more. I got good enough that I ran a small guitar tech business for 2 years while in the military. Through it all, I discovered that I love working on guitars–as much as I love playing them.
I’m an Air Force veteran who now lives with two very lovely ladies: my girlfriend Abigail and our rescued ex-racing greyhound Truly (pictured, note the red boots).
If you don’t have any guitarist friends you can chat with and trust to give you guitar advice, well, now you “know a guy.” You can contact me anytime with your guitar questions and concerns. I usually respond within 48 hours.
If you’re simply curious about what guitars, gear, and accessories I use, you can see all that on my Personal Guitars & Gear page.
